A few TSB members spent this past weekend in Louisville, KY along with over 1200 of the country’s best cyclocross racers for the US Gran Prix of Cyclocross – Derby City Cup. This was the 2nd year that the race was held at the nation’s first “permanent” cyclocross park (Eva Bandman Park) which will be home to the first time ever in the US 2012 Masters World Cyclocross World Championships, and the 2013 Masters, and UCI Pro Cyclocross World Championships! The course this year was spectacular and very physically demanding! There were 3 sand pits, 2 run ups, the Green Monster fly over, 1 set of barriers, countless punchy steep climbs, and a fast twisty section through the trees.
Up for the challenge was Jim Goerlich racing both days and finishing 14th on both days in the very tough and talented single speed class. John Osgood also raced in the single speed class both days, and finished 8th on day one, and 11th on day 2, after a last lap crash kept him out of a top 10 spot.
The team is all geared up to race closer to home this weekend for stop number 8 of the Tailwind USAC Cyclocross Series, at Boomer Park in Rochester. Look for a big crowd of Black, Red, and White to be shredding up the grass!
